Bleeds are a little tough to get your head around initially so we have tried to explain them in as simple a terms as possible. The bleed is the area of the artwork that will be trimmed off. If you do not provide bleed your print will have white edges on it as the guillotine blade bends 1-1.5mm through the paper stack when trimming. By using our templates you will ensure text/images are not trimmed off. We require a 2mm bleed around all your artwork (except posters which need a 6mm bleed). For more information go to our supplying artwork section.
Print Ready Files are artwork files that have been optimised for instant printing. They require no readjustment by our designers. So sending us Print Ready Files is the best possible way to ensure you receive your order quickly.
'Gsm' is grams per square metre, ie. a square metre of 250gsm card, placed on the scales will weigh just that. This will probably seem pretty meaningless though so I'll give a few comparisons. The paper that is sold by the ream (500 sheets) and used in printers or copiers is usually 80-90gsm. You can buy 160gsm card in print shops in packs - this will go through your printer fine and can be used for backgrounds on cards but is much too light for making card blanks. Any card that is 200gsm or more is classed as 'board' but we wouldn’t recommend anything less than 280gsm for business cards, postcards etc.
