Top commonly asked questions

Embedded fonts +

Embedding fonts into your original design will stop them changing or appearing differently after they have been printed.

You can embed/outline your fonts in Illustrator or InDesign by opening your document and highlighting the text, then select 'Type' in the top menu and choose 'Create Outlines'. Your text is now grouped together in outline form – just resave your files and you're done. To embed fonts in Microsoft Word, you can open your document and select 'Options' from the drop down menu. Once you have 'Options' open switch over to the 'Save' tab. Select 'Embed Fonts in the File' and click ok – then resave your file.

Can I place orders over the phone? +

We no longer have a direct contact number. To get in touch, please contact us via our website to arrange a call back or request a quote. You can still talk to us on the phone via an arrange appointment, We look forward to connecting with you!

What are Bleeds? +

Bleeds are a little tough to get your head around initially so we have tried to explain them in as simple a terms as possible. The bleed is the area of the artwork that will be trimmed off. If you do not provide bleed your print will have white edges on it as the guillotine blade bends 1-1.5mm through the paper stack when trimming.

By using our templates you will ensure text/images are not trimmed off. We require a 2mm bleed around all your artwork (except posters which need a 6mm bleed). For more information go to our supplying artwork section.

Can I change my delivery address? +

Contact us as soon as possible, if we haven't dispatched your order we can change the address.

What payment methods do you accept? +

Our checkout is powered by PayPal, which you don't need to be a member of to use! You can pay with American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Switch / Maestro, Solo, Visa Electron / Delta and of course the normal PayPal method for people who have a PayPal account. Contact us is you would like to pay via bank transfer, cheque or cash.

Print & Finishing

What is the difference between CMYK and RGB, and which should I use? +

RGB is used for digital screens, while CMYK is the standard colour model for professional printing. To ensure your colours print exactly as you expect, please convert your artwork to CMYK before uploading. If you supply RGB files, our system will automatically convert them, but this may cause slight colour shifts.

What is the 'Safe Area' in printing? +

The Safe Area is the space inside the trim line of your design. We recommend keeping all important text, logos, and critical images at least 3mm inside the trim line. This ensures that nothing important gets cut off during the final trimming process.

What resolution should my images be for print? +

For crisp, professional results, all images and artwork must be saved at a minimum resolution of 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch) at their final print size. Images saved from the web are usually 72 DPI and will appear pixelated or blurry when printed.

Paper & Product Information

What paper weight (GSM) should I choose for my printing? +

GSM stands for 'Grams per Square Metre' and indicates paper thickness.

  • 90-120gsm: Ideal for letterheads, compliment slips, and internal document pages.
  • 130-170gsm: The standard choice for flyers, leaflets, and posters.
  • 250-300gsm: Great for premium brochure covers and thick flyers.
  • 350-400gsm+: Best suited for business cards, presentation folders, and premium invitations.
What is the difference between matte, gloss, and uncoated finishes? +

Gloss provides a shiny, vibrant finish that makes colours pop—ideal for photo-heavy designs. Matt offers a smooth, non-reflective finish for a highly sophisticated look. Uncoated paper has no coating, making it highly absorbent and easy to write on, which is essential for letterheads, forms, and appointment cards.

Do you offer eco-friendly or sustainable printing options? +

Yes! At Wee Print, we have a dedicated Eco-Friendly range. We offer recycled business cards, flyers, and greetings cards, as well as PVC-free banners and vegan, eco-friendly stickers.

Do you offer a white-label delivery service for trade buyers and resellers? +

Yes, we offer a completely unbranded 'White Label' delivery service. We can ship orders directly to your clients in plain packaging without any Wee Print branding, logos, or invoices. This is the perfect solution for graphic designers, agencies, and trade resellers.

What file formats do you accept for print-ready artwork? +

We highly recommend submitting your artwork as a high-resolution PDF with crop marks and a 2mm bleed included. However, we also accept JPEG, PNG, EPS, and TIFF files.

How do I re-order a previous design? +

Re-ordering is quick and easy. Simply log into your Wee Print account, go to your past orders, and select the 'Re-order' option. You won't need to re-upload your artwork unless you've made changes to your design.

What happens if I notice a mistake after I’ve approved my proof? +

Once a proof is approved and sent to print, the automated production process begins, and we are unable to make changes. We strongly recommend double-checking all spelling, dates, and layout details during the proofing stage.
